The Frontier Greys offense too much for the Florence Freedom in 9-1 rout

Story by Narrative Science.

The Frontier Greys (16-27) shut the door early on the Florence Freedom (26-18), capturing a 9-1 victory on Sunday at UCMC Stadium.

With six runs in the first three innings, the Frontier Greys left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI single by Justin Vasquez and a two-run double by Blake Bergeron during the first inning and a solo home run by Justin McDavid in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Frontier Greys.

Bergeron racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Frontier Greys.

The Florence Freedom had no answer for Mark Pope, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Pope gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two during his four innings of work.

Jeremy Hamilton had a hot bat for the Florence Freedom. Hamilton went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Kyle Brady got the win, running his season record to 2-2. He allowed one run over two innings. He struck out four, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Jason Wilson (2-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in three innings, walked one and struck out two.
