The Medicine Hat Mavericks (25-3) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Edmonton Prospects (6-22), recording an 11-1 victory on Sunday at Telus Field.

The game was decided quickly as the Medicine Hat Mavericks exerted their will early with six runs in the first three innings.

A three-run home run by Joel Lutz during the first inning supplied the early offense for the Medicine Hat Mavericks.

Lutz racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Medicine Hat Mavericks.

Kyle Mckay got the win for the Medicine Hat Mavericks thanks to six strikeouts. Mckay allowed one earned run on four hits and five walks over five innings.

Justin Hanks was charged with his sixth loss of the year. He allowed 10 runs in four innings, walked two and struck out three.
