Jose Fortuna went 2-4 as the Melville Millionaires (14-12) took home a 3-2 victory over the Yorkton Cardinals (9-18) at Jubilee Park on Friday.
He tripled in the sixth inning and singled in the ninth inning.Jaime Paxton struck out eight hitters en route to the the Melville Millionaires win. Paxton allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk over seven innings.
Jeff Pool was effective even in defeat, mowing down seven the Melville Millionaires batters and allowing three runs.
The Yorkton Cardinals' Matt Chavarria was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He singled in the second, seventh, and ninth innings.
Pool was charged with his third loss of the year.
