The Medicine Hat Mavericks (12-2) jumped on the Swift Current Indians (9-4) early on their way to an 8-3 win on Sunday at Athletic Park, scoring three runs in the first inning.

Grant Silva led the Medicine Hat Mavericks' offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He singled in the second and third innings.

Dawson Porter had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He homered in the fourth inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Alex Bos improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. He allowed three runs over five innings. Bos struck out five, walked one and gave up nine hits.

Chris Haddeland (1-1) took the loss for the Swift Current Indians. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked two and struck out three.
