The Medicine Hat Mavericks get 7 strikeouts from Mckay in 3-1 win over the Weyburn Beavers

An ace performance by Kyle Mckay lifted the Medicine Hat Mavericks (8-1) to a 3-1 win in seven innings over the Weyburn Beavers (3-4) on Sunday at Tom Laing Park.

The Weyburn Beavers had no answer for Mckay, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Mckay gave up just one hit, allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out seven during his seven innings of work.

The Medicine Hat Mavericks held off the Weyburn Beavers, as the Weyburn Beavers were unable to overcome a three-run sixth inning deficit.

The Weyburn Beavers scored one run in the seventh on a solo home run by Dalton Silva. Despite their efforts, the Weyburn Beavers couldn't get over the hump.

Grant Silva got on base two times in the game for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. He singled in the first inning.

Kyle Larson was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
