A loss looked likely for the Swift Current Indians (7-3) when they trailed by two runs in the eighth inning, but the Swift Current Indians were able to capture the lead back with a an RBI single by Jake Gonzalez in the tenth inning, spurring the Swift Current Indians to a 4-3 win over the Moose Jaw Miller Express (5-6) at Mitchell Field on Thursday.
With the score tied at three in the tenth inning, Gonzalez came to the plate and singled, scoring Mario Sanchez.
Gonzalez racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Swift Current Indians. He homered in the ninth inning and singled in the sixth and tenth innings.
Cody Chartrand handled the Moose Jaw Miller Express' lineup with ease, racking up seven strikeouts. Chartrand allowed two earned runs, four hits and one walk over seven innings.
Gonzalez improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Swift Current Indians. Gonzalez struck out none, walked none and gave up no hits.
Paul McMahon ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
