A superb effort by Drew Provence spurred the Normal CornBelters (7-2) to a 2-0 win in seven innings over the Frontier Greys (3-6) on Sunday at The Corn Crib.
Provence looked sharp on the mound. The Frontier Greys managed just one hit off of Provence, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out seven during his seven innings of work.
Steven Felix had a hot bat for the Normal CornBelters. Felix went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the sixth inning.
A bright spot for the Frontier Greys in the defeat was Tyler Vaske, who allowed only two runs while striking out six.
Vaske ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year.
