The McAllen Thunder outlast the Alexandria Aces in high-scoring affair, 11-9

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Friday as the McAllen Thunder (1-0) outscored the Alexandria Aces (0-1) 11-9.

The two teams combined for 21 hits in the game.

 

The McAllen Thunder staved off the Alexandria Aces as the Alexandria Aces were unable to match the McAllen Thunder down the stretch.

The Alexandria Aces scored on an RBI single by Ryan Gasporra and a sacrifice fly by Nick Mahin in the fourth inning, an RBI single by Eddie Murray and an RBI single by Murray in the fifth inning, a two-run home run by Zack Cadet in the sixth inning, a sacrifice fly by Mahin in the seventh inning, a solo home run by Elred Barnetti in the eighth inning, and a solo home run by Derrick Pyles in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the Alexandria Aces couldn't get over the hump.

 

 

Joseph Hicks racked up two RBIs on two hits for the McAllen Thunder. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

 

Patrick Durland got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed three runs over two innings. Durland struck out none, walked three and gave up two hits.

Aryo Fleming was charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked five and struck out none.
