Josh Mazzola had two extra base hits, helping the Winnipeg Goldeyes (8-0) to a 5-1 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs (4-5) on Friday at Haymarket Park.

He homered in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.

Justin Garcia struck out 12 hitters en route to the the Winnipeg Goldeyes win. Garcia allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks over six innings.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes couldn't get anything going as long as Eddie McKiernan was pitching. McKiernan held the Winnipeg Goldeyes hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

Ben Henry ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed five runs.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes were sparked by Mazzola and Amos Ramon, who teamed up for three hits and four RBIs.
