An ace performance by Monica Abbott carried the Chicago Bandits (28-9) to an 8-0 win in eight innings over the NY NJ Comets on Friday at Provident Bank Park.
Abbott struck out 14 hitters en route to the the Chicago Bandits win. The Chicago Bandits' pitcher tossed seven innings of shutout ball and allowed only three hits.
Six runs in the first three innings helped the Chicago Bandits blow out the NY NJ Comets (7-31). A three-run home run by Brittany Cervantes during the first inning and an RBI single by Megan Wiggins in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Chicago Bandits.
Cervantes racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Chicago Bandits.
Angel Bunner (2-8) was the game's losing pitcher. She allowed eight runs in seven innings, walked six and struck out seven.
