An outstanding effort by Monica Abbott spurred the Chicago Bandits (15-4) to a 2-0 win over the NY NJ Comets (3-17) on Saturday at The Ballpark at Rosemont.
Abbott kept contact to a minimum, striking out 10 the NY NJ Comets batters. The Chicago Bandits' pitcher gave up just three hits over seven shutout innings.
The Chicago Bandits were led by a flawless day at the dish by Megan Wiggins, who went 3-3 against the NY NJ Comets' pitching. She doubled in the second inning and singled in the first and fifth innings.
Taryne Mowatt (0-5) was the game's losing pitcher. She lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
