GiOnna DiSalvatore drove in the winning run to give the USSSA Pride (6-1) the lead in the sixth inning, as the USSSA Pride hung on to beat the Akron Racers (1-6) 7-5 on Saturday.
Ashley Charters to get on base in the sixth. She then went from first to third on a single by Kelly Kretschman.DiSalvatore racked up four RBIs on three hits for the USSSA Pride. She doubled in the first inning and singled in the fifth and sixth innings.
The Akron Racers had no answer for Sarah Pauly, who kept runners off the basepaths in her appearance. Pauly held the Akron Racers hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Kaylyn Castillo racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Akron Racers. She homered in the sixth inning.
Even though Jordan Taylor allowed five runs over five innings she still recorded the victory, her second of the season. Taylor struck out eight, walked two and gave up five hits.
Brittany Mack (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. She lasted just five innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
