The Butler Blue Sox (25-18) beat the West Virginia Miners (27-16) 2-1 on Sunday at Pullman Park behind Tyler Detmer, who went 1-3.
He doubled in the fourth inning.The West Virginia Miners had no answer for Jon Anderson, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The West Virginia Miners managed just one hit off of the the Butler Blue Sox's pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked four and struck out six during his seven innings of work.
Despite the loss, the West Virginia Miners' Rolando Celis dominated the Butler Blue Sox's batters, giving up two runs and striking out six.
Celis was charged with his third loss of the year.
