An ace performance by Robert Hawkins spurred the Butler Blue Sox (12-8) to an 8-1 win over the Lorain County Ironmen (8-12) on Wednesday at Pullman Park.

Hawkins brought the heat against the Lorain County Ironmen during his outing. The Lorain County Ironmen managed just one hit off of Hawkins, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three during his eight innings of work.

The Butler Blue Sox blew out the Lorain County Ironmen thanks to 13 hits, including zero extra base hits. A two-run triple by Matt Peters delivered the runs in the eighth. The Butler Blue Sox had one hit in the inning.

Ryan Fitzgerald got on base four times in the game for the Butler Blue Sox. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the first and fifth innings and doubled in the sixth inning.

Vince Frate was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
