Matt Marek had two extra base hits, helping the Quincy Gems (6-2) to a 10-6 victory over the Terre Haute Rex (7-2) on Friday at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stad.

Owen Conway went a perfect 1-1 at the plate for the Terre Haute Rex. He singled in the third inning.

The Quincy Gems couldn't get anything going as long as Trevor Haas was pitching. Haas held the Quincy Gems hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Josh Martsching improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Quincy Gems. He allowed four runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked three and surrendered five hits.

Kendall Paluch (1-1) took the loss for the Terre Haute Rex. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

The Quincy Gems were sparked by Marek and Thomas Richards, who teamed up for six hits and four RBIs.
