The Alameda Merchants (11-2) beat the Tri-Valley Bercovich (7-8) 9-0 in seven innings on Saturday at College of Alameda after a six-run explosion in the fifth inning.

Andrew Hobson racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Alameda Merchants. He singled in the second inning and homered in the fifth inning.

Joel Deporte brought the heat against the Tri-Valley Bercovich during his outing. The Tri-Valley Bercovich managed just three hits off of Deporte, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his four innings of work.

John Tierney couldn't get it done on the bump for the Tri-Valley Bercovich, taking a loss. He allowed nine runs in five innings, walked four and struck out three.
