Matt Fontaine hopes every outing could go as well as Saturday, as Fontaine struck out six batters to carry the Alameda Merchants (11-2) to a 2-1 victory over the Tri-Valley Bercovich at College of Alameda.

JR Davis was hot from the plate for the Alameda Merchants. Davis went 3-4 and drove in one. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fifth and seventh innings.

Joey Luchessi (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed one run.
