The Alameda Merchants top the Auburn Wildcats in back-and-forth affair, 8-5

The Alameda Merchants (3-0) outlasted the Auburn Wildcats (4-7) on Saturday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 8-5 win at James Field.

The Alameda Merchants pulled out the win thanks to a strong second inning. Scored Shea Harrison and Steve Moen and gave the Alameda Merchants the lead for good.

Harrison racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Alameda Merchants. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the third innings.

Ethan McGill racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Auburn Wildcats. He singled in the first inning.

Matt Fontaine recorded his first win for the Alameda Merchants even though he allowed five runs over six innings. Fontaine struck out four, walked two and gave up seven hits.

Julian Estrada ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out three.
