The Frontier Greys (28-53) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 6-4 ballgame against the Lake Erie Crushers (50-31) on Sunday at All Pro Freight Stadium.
The Lake Erie Crushers took the lead in the eighth inning on an RBI double by Craig Hertler.
Emmanuel Quiles was hot from the plate for the Lake Erie Crushers. Quiles went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He tripled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and eighth innings.
Mark Micowski put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Frontier Greys. He doubled in the second inning and homered in the third inning.
Brandon Smith recorded his second win of the year for the Lake Erie Crushers. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered two hits.
Jon Shepard ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
