The Gateway Grizzlies top the River City Rascals behind Butler's 3 hits, 8-5

A magnificent effort by Jet Butler spurred the Gateway Grizzlies (30-17) to an 8-5 win in eight innings over the River City Rascals (20-27) on Wednesday at T. R. Hughes Ballpark.

Butler hit two home runs for the Gateway Grizzlies. Butler went 3-4 in the game with five RBIs and two runs scored. Butler homered in the first, eighth, and eighth innings.

The River City Rascals jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hang on. The River City Rascals were up until the eighth inning, but the Gateway Grizzlies had other plans for the final outcome, taking the lead back on a solo home run by Jose Flores.

The River City Rascals' lineup had no answer for Zac Treece. Treece held the River City Rascals hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five.

Curran Redal did his best to jumpstart the offense for the River City Rascals, reaching base three times. He singled in the third and seventh innings.

Richard Barrett got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered one hit.

Kyle Owings was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
