Friday was a great day for Byron Wiley, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Florence Freedom (30-20) to a 15-9 victory over the Frontier Greys (18-32) at UCMC Stadium.
Wiley racked up six RBIs on three hits for the Florence Freedom. He singled in the third inning and homered in the second and fourth innings.
Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 24 runs and 35 hits, including zero extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with eight pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.
The Florence Freedom stamped out any hope for the Frontier Greys with six runs in the fourth.
Blake Bergeron racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Frontier Greys. He singled in the seventh and ninth innings.
Chuck Weaver recorded his second win for the Florence Freedom even though he allowed six runs over six innings. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered nine hits.
Matt Costello couldn't get it done on the hill for the Frontier Greys, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out four.
