A magnificent effort by Matt Rein carried the Lake Erie Crushers (18-21) to an 11-0 win over the Windy City ThunderBolts (17-24) on Tuesday at All Pro Freight Stadium.
The Lake Erie Crushers' Rein kept the Windy City ThunderBolts off the scoreboard for all nine innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out six.
The Lake Erie Crushers blew out the Windy City ThunderBolts thanks to 13 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Lake Erie Crushers scored four runs in the sixth on a groundout by Max Casper, an RBI single by Daniel Bowman, an RBI double by Anderson Hidalgo, and a groundout by Russell Moldenhauer.
Hidalgo racked up six RBIs on five hits for the Lake Erie Crushers.
Matt Wickswat (2-6) took the loss for the Windy City ThunderBolts. He lasted just five innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
