Rosa's two-run blast propels the Washington Wild Things past the Evansville Otters, 6-1

The Washington Wild Things (15-9) built an early lead against the Evansville Otters (16-8), scoring three runs in the first inning, en route to a 6-1 win on Friday at CONSOL Energy Park.

Jovan Rosa had two extra-base hits for the Washington Wild Things. He homered in the first inning and doubled in the second inning.

Shawn Smith struck out seven, paving the way for a the Washington Wild Things win. Smith allowed one earned run, six hits and four walks over seven innings.

John Nester had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He tripled in the fifth inning, doubled in the seventh inning, and singled in the ninth inning.

Ryan Zamorsky ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked three and struck out eight.
