Four first-inning runs helped the Joliet Slammers (8-10) to a 7-2 win over the Windy City ThunderBolts (5-14) at Silver Cross Field on Thursday.
Javan Williams paced the Joliet Slammers at the plate. Williams went 2-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the first and fourth innings.
Brett Zawacki struck out eight, paving the way for a the Joliet Slammers win. Zawacki allowed one earned run, two hits and three walks over 6 2/3 innings.
Travis Strong (0-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked five and struck out two.
