The Normal CornBelters outlast the Rockford Aviators in extras, 3-2

The Normal CornBelters (12-4) put in a full day's work in a 16-inning, 3-2 win over the Rockford Aviators (1-14) Sunday at Aviator Stadium.

With the score tied at two, grounded out, scoring Jenzen Torres.

T.J. Gavlik helped the Normal CornBelters pull ahead for the duration in the sixteenth inning. Torres hit into a fielder's choice to get on base in the sixteenth. He then went from first to second on a single by Devin Thaut.

Santiago Chirino got on base four times in the game for the Normal CornBelters. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the third inning and homered in the fifth inning.

Ross Davis got the win, running his season record to 1-1. Davis struck out five, walked none and gave up six hits.

Kelley Wagner ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked five, struck out three, and allowed one run.
