An ace performance by Drew Provence carried the Normal CornBelters (11-4) to a 5-0 win in seven innings over the River City Rascals (7-7) on Saturday at The Corn Crib.
The River City Rascals couldn't get anything going as long as Provence was on the mound. Provence gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out seven during his seven innings of work.
Patrick McKenna put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Normal CornBelters. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and homered in the fifth inning.
A bright spot for the River City Rascals in the defeat was Brett Harman, who allowed only two runs while striking out seven.
Harman was charged with his first loss of the year.
