The Florence Freedom (4-4) and the Joliet Slammers (4-4) traded the lead five times on Saturday, but the Florence Freedom ended up on top with a 7-5 win over the Joliet Slammers.
Byron Wiley racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Florence Freedom. He doubled in the third inning and homered in the seventh inning.
The Joliet Slammers' lineup had no answer for Corey Deighan. The Joliet Slammers managed just two hits off of Deighan, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his three innings of work.
Despite the loss, the Joliet Slammers' Chase Doremus dominated the Florence Freedom's batters, giving up zero runs and striking out six.
Lucas Goodgion was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
