An ace performance by Chris Enourato led the Gateway Grizzlies (4-2) to an 8-1 win over the Joliet Slammers (3-3) on Thursday at GCS Ballpark.
Enourato held the Joliet Slammers scoreless for seven innings. Enourato struck out five and allowed one walk and two hits.
The Gateway Grizzlies blew out the Joliet Slammers thanks to 11 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Gateway Grizzlies scored three runs in the third on a solo home run by Michael Pair, an RBI double by Chris McClendon, and an RBI double by Jose Flores.
Pair racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Gateway Grizzlies.
Evan Anundsen ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked none, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
