The Joliet Slammers (2-0) and the Traverse City Beach Bums (0-2) each put runners in scoring position on Saturday, but the Joliet Slammers capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 6-3 win at Silver Cross Field.

Seth Schwindenhammer got a hit in each of his three at bats. He singled in the third and fifth innings.

Chuck Lofgren picked up the win for the Joliet Slammers. Lofgren pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs, five hits and four walks while striking out four.

Chase Burch reached base four times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Johnny Omahen ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out five.
