The Schaumburg Boomers get key pinch-hit in 6-5 victory over the Washington Wild Things

Dexter Price was cold coming off the bench, but Price warmed up quickly as Price stroked a key pinch-hit single in the eight to lead the Schaumburg Boomers (3-0) to a 6-5 win over the Washington Wild Things (0-2) on Saturday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.

With the Schaumburg Boomers trailing by one in the eighth inning, Price came to the plate and singled.

The Washington Wild Things scored one run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Shain Stoner. Still, the Washington Wild Things couldn't draw even.

Craig Hertler boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 2-2 day at the plate to pace the Schaumburg Boomers. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the eighth inning.

Price improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Schaumburg Boomers. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered no hits.

Orlando Santos couldn't get it done on the mound for the Washington Wild Things, taking a loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
