Both the Frontier Greys (1-0) and the Rockford Aviators (0-1) put runners aboard on Friday, but it was the Frontier Greys that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 4-3 win at Aviator Stadium.
The Frontier Greys would not relinquish the lead as the Rockford Aviators were unable to weather a three-run third inning deficit.
The Rockford Aviators scored on a two-run home run by Evan Button in the fifth inning and a passed ball in the ninth inning. Unfortunately, the Rockford Aviators weren't able to take the lead back.
Eric Wooten picked up the win for the Frontier Greys. Wooten pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, three hits and no walks while striking out five.
Drew Rucinski was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked none, struck out seven, and allowed four runs.
