The Southern Maryland Nationals (5-3) beat the Presstman Cardinals (3-6) 5-1 on Monday at Regency Furniture Stadium behind Chris Coia, who went 1-2.

Emerson Gibbs picked up the win for the Southern Maryland Nationals. Gibbs pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and no walks while striking out five.

Jordon Glover was hot from the plate for the Presstman Cardinals. Glover went 2-4 and drove in one. He singled in the first and third innings.

Michael Austin baffled the Southern Maryland Nationals, striking out seven batters. Austin allowed one earned run, three hits and two walks over five innings.

Austin ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year.
