A six-run explosion in the second inning led the Southern Maryland Nationals (1-1) to a 7-1 win in five innings over the Herndon Braves (1-2) at Regency Furniture Stadium on Monday.

Spencer Wolfe racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Southern Maryland Nationals. He doubled in the second inning.

Emerson Gibbs improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Southern Maryland Nationals. He allowed one run over five innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered six hits.

Jerrod Leinhauser (0-1) took the loss for the Herndon Braves. He allowed seven runs in two innings, walked three and struck out none.
