The Alameda Merchants get 16 strikeouts from Asmus in 3-2 win over the San Francisco Seagulls

A superb effort by George Asmus led the Alameda Merchants (7-2) to a 3-2 win over the San Francisco Seagulls (3-12) on Saturday at College of Alameda.

Asmus' 16 strikeouts were enough to push the Alameda Merchants past the San Francisco Seagulls. Asmus allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk over nine innings.

Steve Moen was solid at the plate for the Alameda Merchants. Moen went 3-4. He singled in the second and fourth innings and doubled in the sixth inning.

Eren Miravalles led the San Francisco Seagulls' offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He singled in the first and fourth innings.

Robert Silky couldn't get it done on the mound for the San Francisco Seagulls, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
