The Buckleys (13-12) failed to take advantage of Rob Gerdts's effort at the plate on Sunday, losing 20-7 to the F-14 (16-9) in five innings at Raynor two.
Gerdts rocked the F-14 with two home runs. Gerdts went 3-3 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Gerdts homered in the third and fifth innings.
Eighteen runs in the opening three innings allowed the F-14 to easily put away the Buckleys. An RBI triple by Rob Vasquez, an RBI single by Dennis PopickSr, and in the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Dennis PopickJr, an RBI single by Jovon Sapp, an RBI single by Joey Arena, a single by Ray Sonenberg, a two-run single by Vasquez, an RBI single by PopickSr, an RBI single by Matt Duran, and a single by Joey Thaw during the second inning helped the F-14 put some runs on the board early.
The game was back-and-forth heading into the second, with eight lead changes.
Sonenberg racked up four RBIs on three hits for the F-14.
Even though Lenny Thaw allowed seven runs over five innings he still recorded the victory, his eleventh of the season. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered 13 hits.
Chris Fleury ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed 20 runs in four innings, walked three and struck out none.
The F-14 pounded the Buckleys pitching, as seven hitters combined for 19 hits, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
