An ace performance by Joe Gruntkosky led the North Shore Navigators (1-1) to a 9-3 win over the Torrington Titans (1-1) on Sunday at Fraser Field.
Gruntkosky held the Torrington Titans scoreless for seven innings. Gruntkosky struck out five and allowed two walks and two hits.
The offense exploded for the the North Shore Navigators in the fourth. The North Shore Navigators' bats caught fire leading to five runs.
Jake McGuiggan had a hot bat for the North Shore Navigators. McGuiggan went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth inning.
Tyler Dierke was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.
