The Alameda Merchants make the most of 9 hits in 5-4 victory over the California Glory

The Alameda Merchants (23-19) and the California Glory (24-17) both threatened with rallies, but it was the Alameda Merchants that eventually took advantage of them in a 5-4 win at Fairmont Field.

The Alameda Merchants would not relinquish the lead as the California Glory were unable to weather a two-run fourth inning deficit.

The California Glory scored on an RBI single by Matt Davidson in the sixth inning, an RBI single by Stafford Brantley in the seventh inning, and in the ninth inning. Still, the California Glory couldn't catch the Alameda Merchants.

Jordan Grubbs racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Alameda Merchants. He singled in the second inning and homered in the fourth inning.

Tyler King got the win, running his season record to 1-3. He allowed three runs over 7 2/3 innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered 11 hits.

Anthony Caringi (3-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked seven, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
