It took 12 innings, but the DeLand Suns (1-0) managed to put away the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (0-1) 4-3 on Sunday at Historic Sanford Memorial Stadi.

With the DeLand Suns trailing by one in the eighth inning, Clay Ardeeser came to the plate and singled, plating Bryan Adametz.

Adametz did his best to jumpstart the offense for the DeLand Suns, reaching base four times. He singled in the first and twelfth innings.

The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs couldn't get anything going so long as Tyler Warmoth was on the hill. Warmoth held the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Brett Nizamoff (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed one run.
