Pitchers had a tough day during the game between the Leesburg Lightning (1-0) and the Sanford River Rats (1-1), as the two teams put up 22 runs combined in a 14-8 the Leesburg Lightning win.

The two teams combined for 29 hits in the game.

Seven runs in the first three innings helped the Leesburg Lightning blow out the Sanford River Rats. An RBI double by Brett Moreland and a two-run double by Jason Matusik in the first inning and a home run by Chase Durham during the second inning fueled the Leesburg Lightning's offense early.

Durham racked up five RBIs on one hit for the Leesburg Lightning.

Willie Rice improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Leesburg Lightning. He allowed three runs over 2 2/3 innings. Rice struck out one, walked one and gave up four hits.

John Sever (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in two innings, walked four and struck out three.
