Down two runs in the ninth, the SYR JR Chiefs (6-0) recovered thanks to Frank Salerno's single in the ninth, and pulled out a 9-8 win over the Niagara (4-2) on Saturday at Sal Maglie Stad _ McDonough Par.

With the SYR JR Chiefs trailing by one in the ninth inning, Salerno came to the plate and singled, bringing home Ryan Sonberg and Brian Witkowski.

Salerno led the SYR JR Chiefs' offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 17 total runs and 22 hits during the game. Both bullpens were busy with six pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.

Zach Lauricella racked up two RBIs on four hits for the SYR JR Chiefs. He singled in the third, fourth, seventh, and ninth innings.

John Silvestri brought the heat against the Niagara during his outing. The Niagara managed just four hits off of Silvestri, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his five innings of work.

Scott Voyles couldn't get it done on the mound for the Niagara, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
