The Nevada Griffons (4-1) outlasted the Haysville Heat (2-2) on Monday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 7-6 win at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
MJ Sartin was solid at the plate for the Nevada Griffons. Sartin went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the second inning and tripled in the sixth inning.
The Haysville Heat couldn't get anything going so long as Nick Ford was on the hill. Ford held the Haysville Heat hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Nico Lytle recorded his first win of the year for the Nevada Griffons. He allowed two runs over 3 1/3 innings. Lytle struck out two, walked two and gave up three hits.
Drew Rainey ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
