Sunday was a great day for Taylor Drake, as he hit two home runs to carry the Dodge City A's (1-0) to an 8-1 victory over the Arvada Colts (0-1) at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

The Dodge City A's blew out the Arvada Colts thanks to 16 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Dodge City A's scored three runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Mitchell Corwin and a two-run home run by Drake.

Ben Wright picked up the win for the Dodge City A's. Wright allowed no earned runs, six hits and three walks while striking out four over seven innings of work.

Brandon Hoefler was hot from the plate for the Arvada Colts. Hoefler went 3-5 and drove in one. He singled in the first, third, and seventh innings.

Tyler Weidenfeld ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed five runs.

The Dodge City A's were sparked by Grant Yoder and Drake, who teamed up for six hits and three RBIs.
