The DeLand Suns hang on against the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs, 4-3

The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (19-14) were never able to get over the hump and overcome their troubles against the DeLand Suns (20-13) on Thursday, as the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs fell 4-3 at Conrad Park at Stetson Universi after falling behind by four runs in the third inning.

The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs scored three runs in the seventh on a groundout by Ted Blackman, a single by Reed Reznicek, and 2s. Unfortunately, the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs weren't able to take the lead back.

Randy Boza looked sharp on the mound. The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs managed just three hits off of Boza, who allowed no earned runs, walked six and struck out five during his five innings of work.

AC Carter did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs, reaching base four times. He doubled in the sixth inning.

Michael Sylvestri was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked five, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
