The Nevada Big Horns (3-20) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 7-5 ballgame against the Alameda Merchants (14-11) on Sunday.

An RBI single by Roger Luna gave the Alameda Merchants the lead in the seventh inning.

The Nevada Big Horns had no answer for Taylor Gamboa, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Nevada Big Horns managed just one hit off of the the Alameda Merchants' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out four during his 3 2/3 innings of work.

Eric Maupin had two extra-base hits for the Nevada Big Horns. He doubled in the third and fifth innings.

Ryan Buscemi (0-1) took the loss for the Nevada Big Horns. He lasted just four innings, walked five, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
