LaPointe stars as the Sanford Mainers defeat the Mystic Schooners, 16-2

Nate LaPointe hit two home runs to carry the Sanford Mainers (13-21) to a 16-2 win over the Mystic Schooners (6-31) at Fitch High School in seven innings.

The Sanford Mainers blew out the Mystic Schooners thanks to 14 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Sanford Mainers scored six runs in the third on a sacrifice fly by Ino Patron, a single by Anthony Hajjar, a fielder's choice, and a solo home run by Paul Kronenfeld.

The Mystic Schooners couldn't get anything going as long as Jerry Ferris was on the mound. The Mystic Schooners managed just three hits off of the the Sanford Mainers' pitcher, who allowed two earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his six innings of work.

Andrew Santomauro racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Mystic Schooners. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the seventh inning.

Conor LeBlanc (1-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed 11 runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.

The Sanford Mainers hammered the Mystic Schooners pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 12 hits, 15 RBIs and 12 runs scored.
