Four first-inning runs helped the Alameda Merchants (14-11) to a 10-6 win over the Salinas Tomahawks (0-27) at North Salinas High School on Sunday.
The Alameda Merchants were led by Parker Shaw's hitting. Shaw went 2-2 and scored one run. He singled in the first and third innings.
The Salinas Tomahawks had no answer for Zachary Wong, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Salinas Tomahawks managed just one hit off of Wong, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his two innings of work.
Jaime Vega racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Salinas Tomahawks. He singled in the third and fifth innings.
Marc Herron (0-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in three innings, walked five and struck out two.
