John Norwood went 2-2, sparking the Newport Gulls (30-10) to a 2-1 victory in seven innings over the Mystic Schooners (8-31) on Tuesday at Cardines Field.
He singled in the third inning and doubled in the fifth inning.Pete Kelich looked sharp on the mound. The Mystic Schooners managed just one hit off of Kelich, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his two innings of work.
The Mystic Schooners' Andrew Santomauro was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and sixth innings.
