The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs defeat the Leesburg Lightning after late game single, 8-6

The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (10-8) and the Leesburg Lightning (13-4) passed the lead back and forth eight times on Sunday at Alfond Stadium, but in the end the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs pulled out an 8-6 win over the Leesburg Lightning.

The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs held off the Leesburg Lightning, as the Leesburg Lightning were unable to overcome a four-run sixth inning deficit.

The Leesburg Lightning scored on a sacrifice fly by Jake Hanson and a passed ball in the eighth inning and a fielder's choice in the ninth inning. Still, the Leesburg Lightning couldn't catch the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs.

Michael Danner racked up four RBIs on four hits for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs. He homered in the sixth innings and singled in the third, fifth, and eighth innings.

Brett Nizamoff recorded his first win of the year for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs. He allowed two runs over three innings. Nizamoff struck out three, walked two and gave up two hits.

Jonah Davis couldn't get it done on the mound for the Leesburg Lightning, taking a loss. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
