Mark Nelson brought home the go-ahead run to give the Orlando Freedom (4-12) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Orlando Freedom hung on to beat the Sanford River Rats (5-13) 5-3 on Sunday.

Christopher Suto reached on an error to start the eighth. He then went from first to second on a stolen base. Finally, Nelson came to the plate with the score tied at one in the eighth inning, and singled, scoring Suto.

The Orlando Freedom staved off the Sanford River Rats as the Sanford River Rats were unable to match the Orlando Freedom down the stretch.

The Sanford River Rats scored two runs in the ninth on an error and an RBI single by Tommy Williams. Despite their efforts, the Sanford River Rats couldn't get over the hump.

Hunter Bruehl racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Orlando Freedom. He homered in the eighth inning.

The Sanford River Rats' lineup had no answer for Tim Koons. The Sanford River Rats managed just three hits off of Koons, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three during his six innings of work.

Ryan Otero recorded his first win of the year for the Orlando Freedom. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Alexander Graham (2-1) took the loss for the Sanford River Rats. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
