Bollar helps the Bethesda Big Train down the Herndon Braves 6-3

Avondre Bollar had two extra base hits, helping the Bethesda Big Train (25-16) to a 6-3 victory over the Herndon Braves (15-24) on Monday at Shirley Povich Field.

He doubled in the third and fifth innings.

Cameron Cuneo's nine strikeouts were enough to push the Bethesda Big Train past the Herndon Braves. Cuneo allowed three earned runs, four hits and no walks over six innings.

Kyle Toomey went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Herndon Braves. He singled in the second inning and homered in the fourth inning.

The Bethesda Big Train had no answer for Mike Wood, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Wood held the Bethesda Big Train hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.

Mike Kaufman couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Herndon Braves, taking a loss. He lasted just two innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
